Service Positions

GMZC holds chanting service on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The liturgy is an adaption of the one used by many of the White Plum groups.

Service positions are typically held by Training Members for 6-12 months at a time. If you are interested in learning a service position, please talk to Shishin Roshi.

Jisha opens, manages and closes the dokusan (private interview with teacher) line.

Service Jisha is the attendant to the officiant. Service jisha enters the zendo with the officiant and assists with the offerings.

Doan rings the bells and gongs during service. The large gong is called a case.

Ino leads the chants and recites the dedications.

Jikido keeps time during the sitting periods and oversees the zendo.
